To Imagine is to Invoke

Chastised for being unrealistic, repeatedly told to get your head out of the clouds, far too many of us have stopped dreaming.

But dreaming is intrinsic.

Imagination is a gift and an early show of creativity.

Proudly reclaim that aspect of your nature.

Only the dreamers move us forward.

Only dreamers innovate.

Only dreamers reach for possibility and inspire others to do the same.

No dream. No vision. No progress.

To first imagine is where revolution begins.

How To: Knockout Eyes with Estee Lauder

I'm newly in my 40s and I was so excited about a video posted by Estee Lauder that finally explained, in the most simplest way, how to achieve knockout, dramatic eyes based on the look you are going for AND how to achieve a more flawless look AND define or lengthen your lashes...

I was always confused about what I should and should not be using but now I finally get it.

I don't want the same look for my work day as I do for my evenings out or weekend casual days.

I must confess: I only normally buy one mascara and I make it work for all occasions.  Ummm, now I know that I can just purchase different mascaras with different wands to achieve my desired effect...duh!

Here are a few examples:

Sumptuous Knockoutturn ordinary lashes into knockout lashes: lifted, separated and fanned out for maximum lash impact.

Sumptuous Infinitegravity-defying fibers take lashes far beyond tips. Lashes are transformed—longer, fuller, dramatic.Innovative stretchable fibers perfectly shape, plump and extend each lash, from roots through tips and beyond. Fibers are fused onto lashes as the mascara dries, setting and locking-in length.

Sumptuous Full Lengthweightless volume, Sumptuous creates daringly full, sensuously curved, all-out seductive lashes.

Hope this helps you choose too! Leave it up to Estee Lauder to know exactly how to explain it...check out their website for full details and to order

100 Year Old Health: Veggie Broth Soup

A few years back US News and World Report put out a special issue on what it means to live to 100 years old.  It was a very interesting read on what Centenarians have done in their past lifestyles to get them to this age milestone.

Around that same time I had read a cook book based on one of the Asian community's secret weapons for their longevity: making a healthy broth soup apart of their normal eating habit.

They don't eat broth soups as apart of some fad diet or fasting.

They eat broth soups as apart of their normal eating habits with goodness packed into them such as ginger, turmeric, etc.

So, when I feel the bloat, I have adopted my version of a broth soup to meet my needs and still have the health benefits of this miracle soup.

I make a huge pot (seen above) for my lunch all week that consists of the following ingredients:
Bone Broth
Brocoli
Onion
Bok Choy
Cilantro
Chicken Breast Pieces
Diced Steamed Tomatoes
Asparagus
Season to Taste

The cooking part is simple since I just put all the ingredients listed above in a huge pot and simmer for less than hour!

Try it for a week and see how much it lessens the bloat, increases your energy levels, gives you some skin clarity and increases your normal fiber intake.

It's a big pot of nutrition that will (hopefully) support you living in health for 100 years!

Mastering Influence and Tapping Your Secret Weapon

Yesterday I was reading a brilliant article by Sallie Krawcheck ("How Female Entrepreneurs Can Overcome the Odds") about what she has learned about becoming an entrepreneur after having had a high level Wall Street career where she was one of the only women to achieve milestones that are still difficult to achieve for women.

The article written for LinkedIn was not like the 1 millionth other articles you have likely read already of what it means to be an entreprenuer.

Sure, she had a couple points like "You must have Passion for what you are doing" that you've heard before but I wanted to highlight one of her points that really resonated with me...

Krawcheck: I’m seeing again and again that a key differentiator for entrepreneurs is their network, and how effectively they engage it. This is true in getting funding (I first went to people I had worked with in the past); it’s true in finding your first users; it’s true in finding the right people to hire; and it’s true in activating excitement about your business.
I found my co-founder of Ellevest through a serial entrepreneur I had become friendly with; we found our Chief Design Officer through a woman who leads a consulting firm, whom I’d met at a conference; and I found our Chief Investment Officer through…well….by spending hours on LinkedIn reviewing profiles and then networking to get to her. A vibrant, engaged network is an entrepreneur’s secret weapon.

While reading her article I realized I had over 900+ LinkedIn contacts, for example, that I have not effectively engaged since I started my coaching firm! (Side note: Krawcheck isn't implying that you need to keep up with 900+ contacts...but your network needs to consist of certain people who you can effectively engage in a fruitful way).

This may seem like a no-brainer to you but seriously, I am going into my 5th year since founding my firm and there are people in my network who will wholeheartedly tell you that they are not exactly sure what I do and how I do it and even crazier...they can likely say they have no idea who my ideal client is.

To Krawcheck's point, I have not effectively engaged certain people in my network to be my best secret weapon.

Duh!

And please don't count when you have sent random sales emails to your network. I've done this repeatedly. Krawcheck is referring to a more focused, consistent, regular targeting of certain people in your network who can connect you to people, resources or events that will help you accomplish your clearly articulated goal(s). #Boom

And to be perfectly honest, this article also helped point out to me that I have been asking the wrong people in my network!  Long story but I now know and understand that my Ask needs to be more focused and targeted to be more effective in the goals that I have to scale my firm. 2017 is my year to break from the pack of every other coach who wants to "hang a shingle"...my ability to effectively engage my network is going to be a key factor in me accomplishing this goal.

So, instead of just making this post about highlighting a key point about a lesson I am still learning, I wanted to connect you to a resource by none other than the brilliant Tony Robbins called "Mastering Influence", which is temporarily 40% off!

Leave it up to Robbins to already have known what Krawcheck so brilliantly articulated: get your network to do the "work" for you (and don't get it twisted, it works both ways in which you work for them too when they express a need, desire or goal).

Robbins' program on "Mastering Influence" is filled with specific techniques, strategies and secrets from the world's top leaders and salespeople on what it means to influence others and partner/collaborate with them to achieve your highest goals. (Side note: Krawcheck also addresses the points of getting over your fear, especially your fear of asking your network for money, connections, deals, etc. I never associated this with being a great salesperson/influencer, per se.  But five years in, I get their point!)

Robbins: Whether it's working for a promotion, starting a new career or growing your business, we all strive for success as we move through another year.  Creating your success comes down to many factors — the most important being influence. With the power of influence comes the ability to effectively lead, impact and succeed in any scenario — paving the way for you to exceed your goals.

In "Mastering Influence", learn how to:

  • Enjoy and inspire greater confidence, passion and drive to succeed.
  • Achieve crystal-clear focus and direction towards your goals.
  • Fine-tune your personal-development and success-conditioning skills.
  • Master strategies employed by the world’s most successful sales people.
  • Create enduring relationships with both colleagues and clients.
I hope this post helps to inspire you to further develop a skill set (influence and how you use it to effectively engage your network, your greatest (potential) secret weapon) that of course will support you living an authentic life of your own stylish design!

Let's grow in this area together...it's certainly Curva-Lish!

UpLevel Your Inner Circle

Your inner circle will either make you or break you...why?

Your inner circle become beacons of your standards and those standards (and the support that stems from it),  will either elevate you towards your goals or be anchor weights that cause you to doubt yourself, not stretch fully towards your highest potential or even worse...retreat towards a life of mediocrity.

Your choice of inner circle peeps dictates the level of your self love.  And it's never too late to pivot, rethink and get back recharged...

I believe in you.

Now go get 'em and make an impact on our world.

If It's Not Working, Create It!

#MorningGlory and Deconstruction: the primary messaging of Curva-Lish is authenticity. I didn't just make that apart of the mission statement because it sounds good...I literally live it!

This pic is an example. I'm sitting here spending an hour this morning deconstructing two different planners because I still haven't found one that's exactly right that will not only manage my appointments but that will also manage my life as an entrepreneur whose life doesn't fit into a 9-5 schedule. I have experience building something from a blank piece of paper (literally) to a $2MM budget with over 300 employees impacted in two different countries...I'm going back to that system I developed then and taking pages from two different planners to build my own #empire!

It's also like I tell visionairies in my vision board events: if you don't see an image, word or creative that depicts what you have a vision for, don't be afraid to create it!

I'm now creating my perfect planner that has worked brilliant-ly for me using my own tried systems that can manage a lot...it's about being Curva-Lish(ly) authentic!

Questions to Ask Yourself:
Are you stuck because you're trying to make a system fit when instead, you need to know what you want and THEN find a system that fits? Create it.

Are you still using a system that worked in a past life but now that you have a brilliantly different life pursuing your goals you need to update your system? Create it.

Have you not paused to assess if your current blueprint matches the outcomes you are desiring in your life? Create it.

No matter how you answered these questions, the point  of this post is: Don't be afraid to create it!
